A family man in Sunrise Florida could use our support

This weekend the South Florida Sun Sentinel featured a story about Howard Mallinger and his wife Sheryl. Howard never imagined that his retirement years would end up like this. His wife was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer and the medical expenses are crippling his life. His home is in pre foreclosure, his electricity has been shut off, his social security income doesn't cover his expenses and he has to go to local food banks for food for him and his two mentally challenged sons. I've inserted more details of his heart wrenching struggles which you can read and listen to by clicking on the link below:

Sun Sentinel story on the Mallingers

I met Mr. Mallinger yesterday with my family and he's a man that still has great faith and hope even after all that he has been through. I'm thankful to have met him. If you could keep the Mallingers in your prayers, I know that they would be forever grateful.

If anyone would like to donate to him, I would be glad to facilitate that. If you choose to help, you could make a check or money order payable to Howard Mallinger and mail it to my attention at my Keller Williams office or you could even mail it to the Nursing Center where Howard's wife Sheryl is staying. Here are the addresses:

Keller Williams Partners Realty Attn: Lynn Pineda 1801 N Pine Island Rd #210 Plantation FL 33322

or

West Broward Nursing and Rehab Center 7751 W Broward Blvd. Plantation FL 33324 (954-473-8040)

The more you know, the better prepared, the better the outcome.

Unfortunately there are far too many Mallinger families out there. There are a good many families truly suffering in the current economic climate. Those of us under 50 have it worse. There won't be any Social Security $$$ left for us!

Hi Lynn,

My prayers are with him and his family! Such difficult times anyway, then to take the blows of his wifes health on top of that! Then raising two boys also! Wow! This must be a very stong man to handle all he has been through!

I am putting this post up as a featured prayer request for this family in C&RE ...I do NOT have money to give, BUT such as I have I WILL give...I will pray and may the Lord move in this families behalf!!!!!

In our wonderful Messiahs name(s) ~~~~~ Jesus!!

Vickie, yes it's so true as there are many many families suffering and if I can help just one, things will be better!

Judy, I know ... you wonder how one man can handle so much. It's amazing his incredible faith and hope that he has. It has been shown to move mountains and I hope it does for him

Alex, thank you so much for featuring this. We all know what the power of prayer can do. The more prayers coming his way the better.

Amen to that, Lynn...... what we can do we do......... and that is what it is all about!!

Such is what Peter and John did when they talked with a man on a Sabbath....

Yes Alex, if we can make the difference in just one person life with our prayers and efforts than that is all good to me. I've been blessed and look forward to trying to be a part of blessing another in need. Nothing greater than that!

Lynn,

You spoke with a friend of mine by phone today (Linda H.) and she relayed this story to me.  I will be speaking to my corporate office tomorrow to see if we can offer Mr. Mallenger any assistance with his mortgage situation.  Free of charge, of course.  I have also reached out to my facebook friends for help.  You can find me on Activerain as well.  I'll keep you posted. - Christina

Scott,  I'm sure Mr. Mallinger would thank you for your prayers. God bless.

Christina, that's great to hear. Thank you so much for your efforts. Please let me know if I can help you in any way.

WOW !!! LOOK at that!!!! That is so cool!!! Hopefully, this will be the problem solver the family needs....

Yes, isn't that great Alex! I'm with you "WOW!"

I'm been contacted by a few people who so generously have offered to see what we can do. I know the prayers are working!

( 06/08/09 09:22PM ) — Bob Sloop, Consultant, Indianapolis, IN

Lynn, yes the prayers will work.  We too are praying for this family...how could we not...it is our loving duty to do so with pleasure.  Lets give God the praise as things progress into His miracle, we are asking for just that.

Bob, you're right as prayers have been working.  We've already had a man contact Mr Mallinger to offer him a place to stay at least through December as his family member is in a nursing home until at least that time.  He has also agreed to pay for his electricity and water during that time - talk about the power of prayer!

Lynn, it is exciting to see help for this family.  Prayer is indeed powerful.

Ann, oh I know.  Human compassion and prayer is really powerful, you're right
