Wood Destroying Organisms, Tallahassee style

One of the regional problems we deal with here in Tallahassee are Wood Destroying Organisms. This includes but is not limited to termites (subterranean and flying) powder post beetles and wood rot.

The Wood Destroying Organism (WDO) report is provided to buyers as kind of a check-up on the propertys health. Used in conjuction with a home inspection,it provides an apt description of the condition of the house.

When buyers come from colder regions they sometimes panic when they hear that there are live termites in a house. Actually, here in North Florida termites are said to be in nearly every five square yards of soil. I do not know this to be a fact, however, they sure seem to be everywhere. But the treatment takes care of them, the damaged wood is repaired and the situation is usually fairly minor.

Wood rot is so common it is a tremendous exception when none is found on a house. Usually around entryways, door frames etc. Wood rot simply requires what is normally a minor repair.
