Annual Mayor's Hillsborough River Clean UP

Seminole Heights is bounded on both the north and the west by the Hillsborough River so it only seems fitting that neighbors would take an interest in this annual event. Seminole Heights is fortunate to have more riverfront parkland than any neighborhood in the city of Tampa. From our wonderful parks we can see hawks, eggrets, great blue herron, and even the occasional eagle. We can see the mantees, gators, and aquatic life in the "wild" in our urban neighborhood.

The South Seminole Heights Civic Association is sponsoring a team for the Rivercrest park shoreline for the Mayor's Hillsborough River Cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 9 a.m.! Neighbors and volunteers will meet at the picnic pavilion in Rivercrest Park to pick up gloves and trash bags, then head out along the river shoreline and greenway to pick up trash. Kids are welcome with parental supervision. Join us after the Trash Bash for lunch courtesy of the South Seminole Heights Civic Association. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt. General volunteers for the 22nd Annual Hillsborough River & Waterways Cleanup can gather at the Lowry Park Boat Ramp (North Blvd. at Sligh Ave., Tampa) on November 21, 2009 • 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The clean-up kicks off at 8 am followed by the Rollin' on the River Picnic.
