Tarpon Springs Florida | Boaters and Dogs wild about Anderson Park

Tarpon Springs, Florida is home to two of Pinellas Counties Public Parks:

A L Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs Florida

Two fabulous parks with two different environments - many things to do. A. L. Anderson Park is almost 130 acres of green space in Northern Pinellas County and has a distinctive hilly terrain and long nature trail and boardwalk along Lake Tarpon and Salmon Bay. It has a playground for kids and a paw ground for dogs. It has large areas of ample picnic tables. This park officially opened in 1982 and is named after a former commissioner who was a fisherman and also won several conservation awards.

Today I want share some of my favorite things about A L Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs are:

  • The public boat ramps for easy access to freshwater boating, jet skiing and more - the large parking lot is appreciated on busy holidays and weekends;
  • It has an elaborate Paw Playground for man's best friend - the dog complete with fire hydrants, water and more;
  • Playground for kids as well that overlooks the lake and hilly terrain.
  • It has several shaded picnic shelters - Bar-B-Ques, Family Picnics and Birthday Parties are a few of the uses that come to mind; One sits overlooking Lake Tarpon.
  • Public restroom facilities are kept neat in clean in my experience;

Cyndee I am not a dog or a boater but these parks in Tarpon Springs look like a fun place to go.

I am a dog lover...I'll bet my doggie and I would enjoy ourselves here!

Great info, as always!

Ashley - I agree - my dog is not behaved enough to play there :-) and I'm hoping Susie will take me boating there but it's a beautiful place for picnics and more.

Karen - it's always great to have you visit - thanks for the kind words!

Cyndee,

Thanks for another wonderful post about your area.  I feel like I have visited without leaving home.

Rita - then I've done my job:-) now when you subliminally start thinking "I want to move to Tampa Bay Florida" I will have truly succeeded :-)

HI Cyndee-

If I ever make it to Florida, I'm calling you for the tour. Your localism posts are always so inviting. Thanks : )

Kelli - thank you and YES you better call me or I'll hurt you. You would love it here however, you've helped educate me on what a beautiful place Oregon is - I would have never guessed - it's great to get a glimpse into other place. Hope all is going well for you!! Hope to see you visit again soooooooon!

Cyndee - you rock on providing great information - I love the idea of a paw park - this sounds like my kind of place too... have a great week :)

Thesa - thank you and I appreciate your support. Can't believe it's Friday already - where does all the time go. We have so many paw parks you wouldn't believe how popular they are. A local hotel the Belleview Biltmore even had a "Yappy Hour" last week for the dogs and their owners "-)

Cyndee, great local park information!  Sounds like a destination for my family!

I used to live in Tarpon Springs and absolutely love that park! It is great for picnics, photo shoots, taking dogs for walks.......that brought back a lot of memories!

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting - it is a great alternative for the beaches.

We need to make a point to get out on this water and to these parks with the boys - we're so blessed to have such great parks in this area.

Having lived in Tarpon Springs for years, I have to agree that Anderson Park is a wonderful place! If you have not been there, it is a must!!!!
