Now that is a what I would call a real rack.....I am talking about the antlers and nothing more. Another nice nature photo. You have such a talent.
Hi Gail, Looks like those antlers need to be scrapped ! Nice shot !
Hi Gail - WOW...isn't that something! Great shot..
Don - You're so silly....
Ummm Don....and what else could you possibly refer to when looking at a 3 foot rack. You've got me thinking though...stack, sack, pack, back, I give up :-)
Bill....I must be slow this morning....what are scrapped antlers? Your talking to someone who only shoots with a camera...LOL
Morning Toula....Those are some big antlers, aren't they. Because of the time of year you can see the molt, but he's still a beautiful animal.
Wow that is amazing!
you have some great shots
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Thanks for sharing your post this morning with us. Keep blogging
I liked your Sunday morning pitcure. Thanks for sharing it with us.
WOW and that one is still in the "velvet" stage, can you imagine what that rack looked like when mature! Hope you are doing well, every time I see one of your nature pictures, I hear the National Geographic music in the back of my mind!
Hi Gail, wow what a huge pair of antlers. Great nature shot.
Gail,
Don beat me to the best line for this pic. What a fantastic picture. The background color just enhances the shot.
Rich
I really appreciated your picture this morning. I am new and looking forward to more of them down the road.
Gorgeous velvet antlers Gail, I love the way the sun is shining through them! I always think the deer, elk and now I see, the Caribou too, look so scruffy in the Spring, when they lose their winter coat.
Wow what a animal and looks likes in a beautiful area. Love the huge rack.
Morning Gail - What a magnificent creature! He's huge! I always wonder how an animal like this, or an elk, or big deer, can hold up their heads with all that weight....
Debi
Gail - When you look at the antlers on that critter, they appear as arms with fingers poised in a graceful dance. I'm certain that animal was a ballerina in a previous life:-)
Gail, NICE RACK!!! The deer of course!! Hahahaha!
Hi Gail, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those beautiful velvet covered antlers.
What a beautiful animal in the foreground of beautiful scenery!
Hi Gail-That is an incredible pic. Definitely a awesome rack. YOU never disappoint on the pics Have a great Sunday. <SMILE>
I will leave that up to you ma'am :0)
Great Canadian shot Gail! I saw a few in Banff, Alberta. Where was this taken?
Gail..you do take the most beautiful pictures..thank you
HelpfulHannah
Hi Gail! I just LOVE this photo--I can't believe that you were able to capture that shot--I'm telling you--you have a second career. You should sell this to National Geographic or a sporting magazine; simply amazing!
Hi Gail
Outstanding photo, I hope your were using a telephoto lens like about 800.
Lou Ludwig
What a lovely coat rack you've got there my friend!
All kidding aside though, that's one great shot.
So Gail, I'm thinking you didn't take this one at your local wetlands... But it's yet another beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks everyone for the great comments :-) Taken in Alberta Canada June 1997 and scanned from a print with some enhancement in PhotoShop. Glad you all like this magnificent endangered creature.
Mary...yes he is in the molt stage, but still I find him beautiful.
Hi Debi...they do look rather heavy. Wouldn't it be fun to find them out hiking, those I would keep :-)
Myrl....you are so poetic, they absolutely look like graceful fingers engaged in a mythical dance
John...it was either Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper...I can't exactly pinpoint it, but I'm thinking Jasper. Would love to go back.
Debe....It would be wonderful to get paid for this, but alas competition is as stiff there as in our business. Nonetheless, you saying so is always worth a big smile :-) Thanks so much!
LOL @Lou....I wonder how much an 800mm would cost. I do tend to get as close as I can without spooking the animal. If I don't feel fear or intimidation, it seems the animal doesn't either. I don't take stupid chances...but might push the envelope a little more than most :-)
Thanks Craig....coat rack LOL
Thanks Laurie...not to bad for a scanned print is it :-)
Gail,
That's one IMPRESSIVE rack!
Mike in Tucson

Great picture. I'm not sure I've ever seen a caribou before. Quite a beautiful creature.
Gail- This is a great image of such a magnificent animal. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Gail, Love how you see the downy fuzz on the antlers, another great capture, WOW!
Hello ladybird-Hope you are staying out of mischief. I love the pic. You and Debi are just awesome. I miss you all. Hope you are doing well. :-)
Hi Gail, Wow, that is quite a picture! All I can think is that guy must have a huge headache, carrying those gigantic antlers around all the time.
Gail I believe that is consider toooooooooooooooooooooooooo beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee a "real rack" ... LOL
Have great, successful and wonderful week
Hey girl! Where are you? I have been away since July 6th backpacking in the mountains of Northern New Mexico with the Boy Scouts and am just now returning to AR. Hope to see you here soon!
Gail ~ He looks like a pretty big animal in stature as well as antlers....I have never seen one...I have seen elk and moose...

Gail - Just stopping by to see if you are doing o.k. Are you on vacation?
You've always got some great shots! Simply amazing!
We just drove back from Miami, and detoured into Vero Beach where I had never been before. Spent an hour at the beach chilling before we continued back to 95 and onto Atlanta. We left from the Disney Resort (forgot it was there! Did not have time to check it out) and came back on Hwy 510 to I-95. I took the most amazing photo I've ever taken..and wanted to share it with you.....
Breathtaking, and a moment I will remember for some time to come! Wish I could of just sat on the bridge and watched for an hour!
OK...I just saw comment by you on Debi's blog so I know you are lurking around Active Rain somewhere! Drop by my blog and say hello!
Hi Gail! I'm with Russell-where HAVE you been?! I haven't seen you run through my blog roll in quite a long time--we miss you and your gorgeous photos! Hope you and yours are well and we do look forward to your return--soon, I hope!
Have a wonderful Wednesday...
