Fridays Are For Football

According to the Palm Beach County school calendar, it's football season. Beginning last night and continuing every Friday until Veteran's Day, November 11, with one bye week thrown in along the way, the high school sports calendar calls for football.

Palm Beach County public and private high schools kicked off the football season last night with all of the County's 23 public schools and many of the 12 private schools and academies in action. Local teams participated in 19 games last night, and one more is scheduled for this afternoon. Most were local contests, but a few required a little driving to get there.

This first game of the season featured a lot of traditional rivalries, but because of the size of our area and the number of teams, that can be said of most any game.

No point in scheduling anything else on Friday nights for the next several weeks. High school football is back. Find one close to you and follow the team - whether you or your children attended that school or not. It's a great way to support the community.
