Downtown
West Palm Beach Florida- Baby Boomers
Bloom and Boom!
Downtown West Palm Beach
Florida has become the happening place for Baby Boomers to retire
and they are moving down here from Atlanta Georgia, Charlotte North
Carolina, Maryland Virginia, New York and New Jersey to name a few.
International Boomers are moving here as well from Europe and South
America.
The benefits of living
the Urban lifestyle of downtown West Palm Beach Florida
include the fact that this is almost car-free living. Most of the
boomers tell us they love being able to walk everywhere. You can live
in a new condo here and walk to the Muvico movie theater, the famous
restaurants to the Comedy warehouse. To view some great photos of CityPlace
which is the main part of downtown West Palm beach click here.

Within walking distance
from most of the condos is the West Palm Beach Convention Center and
the Kravis Center
where you can take in an Opera, a musical and many other cultural
events. Another thing that Baby Boomers here love to do is to continue
their education and right at the doorsteps to CityPlace is the Palm
Beach Atlantic University. I just love this university. One of my
daughters has been a student there since she was 14 so I have the
pleasure of being in the midst of the great architecture along with
healthy values. There is no smoking on campus, they have a no drug
policy and there are no coed dorms. This is one of the most
distinguished and revered private Christian Universities in the nation.
What better place to take on some night classes or to finish a degree
than on the sands of the sea with breathtaking views of the ocean and
soft breezes flowing all around you.

There are fabulous art
museums and lots of events such as our famous West Palm Beach Boat Show
that
are held right downtown along our fabulous Atlantic Intra coastal
waterfront. Roch and Roll is alive and well in West Palm Beach also. We
also have a free trolley in downtown West Palm Beach. Of course if you
are looking for something a bit more romantic there are the horse
carriage rides and the bicycle rides. All this takes place in one
square mile in downtown West Palm Beach.

Baby Boomers who are
tired of large yards to take care of and huge homes with SUV's
are trading all of that in for the new urban lifestyle of walking and
sunshine. Baby boomers are the largest group buying condos in
CityPlace, Clematis and Downtown West Palm Beach Florida. It is a
smaller city than Miami and Boca Raton and yet not so far out as Port
St Lucie. Most of the condo buyers are now in the age group of 40 -50.
Instead of card rooms in the Condo social areas there is WiFi. To
give you an idea of the condos that are available check out One City
Plaza by clicking here.

According to the Wall
Street Journal; the
nation's two largest generations are the 82 Million baby boomers and
the 72 million Millenials and they are throwing out their suburban
lifestyle and embracing the new urban settings including West Palm
Beach Florida. I must admit, there are times when I look at this
appealing lifestyle and wonder if I would like to go urban. Well, I am
a baby boomer with a 5 year old son so that is not going to happen just
yet. "Millenials and Baby Boomers are in perfect syn. They are at the
stage where they both want the same things," says Todd Zimmerman who is
a consultant to the housing industry. He goes on to say that
by
the time these two generations peak in 2015 you will witness
re-urbanization on a very large scale. This may just be the
beginning of the end up sprawl.
For many of the baby
boomers buying a condo in downtown West Palm Beach Florida is nothing
new.
Their condos here are their second and third homes. Some are testing
the waters to see if they are really going to like retiring in an urban
setting. Many of them just want to get out of the 'car thing'.
A lot of the baby boomers
moving to downtown are locals themselves. Many
of them lived in large homes right here in Wellington because of the
fabulous schools in Wellington Florida for their children. But once
their children graduate from High School in Wellington the parents are
selling their large estates and moving into downtown condos because
they love the lifestyle.
So if you are a baby
boomer or a millenial who
would love walking along the waterfront intra coastal , grab a bite to
eat at Legal Seafoods, then walk right across to catch a movie at
Muvico, stroll over to Starbucks for an evening Cappuccino, dance the
night away to rock and roll on Clematis, then walk back to your condo
and gaze at the view of the city lights from your balcony than this is
the place for you. Call us today, put on your walking shoes and we will
find that perfect condo for you to start living the boomer lifestyle
and become a part of urban renewal right here in downtown West Palm
Beach Florida.

Sounds like a wonderful way of life - lovely pictures - and I like your new one, too.
Katrina, Great new look. I didn't remember subscribing to the new picture of you and Nester. It took me a minute to figure out who I was reading. I love your header.
Hope you are trned setter. We woul dgladly follow. So far the general feeling that the prices are still going down.
But we are open to good news.
Good pictures
Excellent Localism blog! I rode the trolley in New Orleans several years ago and it was a wonderful way to see the city. I'm sure it would be the same in West Palm Beach too. With the price of gas going up, this will certainly be a draw. We are also seeing more people look at downtown area homes for some of the same reasons you mentioned.
Jon- NO way, in West Palm Beach, downtown the prices are NOT going down! They remain steady. The condo market is very healthy unlike Miami and Ft Lauderdale. IN fact there are NO empty unfinished condo projects here. They are preselling and usually sold out before completion even today! WPB condo is the only market in Florida that showed an increase this past year. Real estate is hyper local !
Looks like a great place to live and enjoy the city life. I need space yet maybe someday.
Love the new look of your blog! Your picture is great!
Beautiful pictures of west palm beach! The ocean is looking very tempting!
I had coffee at the Starbucks a few years ago meeting a client there....nice area...hey did you use my name?:) Mention it and you'll get a good seat:)
Lovely photos of the area Katerina. The feature I love about these towns is the bodies of water so close by. The presence of water close to towns transforms the nature of the community from one of bustling to one of peaceful.
Love your new header and headshot! This post provides exactly the type of information that people like me are looking for. When you move for a job, it's easy - someone else decides your destinatin. As a retiree, the whole world is at your doorstep and there are so many options. You just can't provide too much information about your area!
Katerina I have only been to West Palm oncee but it sure is a beautiful place. I have relatives in the Ft lauderdale area so I am down there a couple of times a year. I love that whole East Coast Area of Florida.
Katerina~ You are so lucky to live and work by the beach! I am hoping "someday" I will live at the beach.....I don't even care which one! Great photos and information on your area, (of course, you only do GREAT!)
Kat, Those are great pics. Makes me want to visit. This post is choc full of the kind of info the public searches the web for!!
Enjoy your evening,
Katerina, I know this is off subject but those pictures are GORGEOUS. Theey are so clear. What type of camera do you use and recommend??
