I was out previewing today and had my camaera along when I drove past Lake Allatoona in Cobb and Paulding counites. What we saw was beyond scary, and thought that it was worth taking a few pictures of Lake Allatoona as we drove by. Today was not the best day for photos, it was overcast, and snow flurries which is a rarity in the south. The pictures I took still give you a real view that much of the lake is just a mud flat these days. Lake Allatoona is used for many purposes, hydo power generation, drinking water, recreation etc. I wonder what Atlanta is going to start to do shortly if this drought keeps up? I don't think the situation at Lake Allatoona has a worse case scanario.

From the photo's it does not look as if that lake was very deep in the first place. But still scary none the less.
Downtown Portland Real Estate Broker~Herb Hamilton (RE/MAX Preferred Inc. Realtors) Two weeks ago I drove past the North end that is dried up also. even Deeper lakes here are dried up and way down. The picture may look deceptive because I was actually on a bit of an overlook looking down upon.
We've had drought issues down here for years. We're still under water restrictions and it looks like it's going to get worse for us this year. Hope we all get some rain!

I feel your nervousness. Here in So Cal we are in a drought as well. I am hoping the situation gets better this winter or next year our fire season will be worse!
It appears that all folks in Georgia can do is hope for lots of snow and a good slow spring melt.
Jim didn't the lake fill up earlier this year? Is there too many people in the area for the lake to provide for now?
That is scary. I toured our California state water system earlier this year and our primary feed dam in Northern California - the Orroville Dam, is down 120' There is still a lot of water there but there is an extra 120' of bare shoreline all around the lake. Similarly in Arizona, Lake Powell has shrunk and photographers are having a field day with delicate arches and Indian petroglyphs that have been underwater for decades. I always tell my friends that live in the mountains in Colorado to flush twice - California needs the water.

John Walters (Specialized Real Estate) Wellthe last big storm we got in Atlanta was on St Paddy's Day 1993. We had about 23 inches - it lasted all of a bout 2-3 days before it melted from the heat here. Hey I'm open to anything!

Our Lake Delton is filling up here again, but with more snow than last year expected, spring flooding is alread a topic at the cafe.

We were in Suwanee visiting our daugther and her family in October. Lake Lanier is really low too. Maybe you will have a wet winter.....we should all be praying for moisture in whatever form we can get it. We had lots of snow last year but not much yet. Actually supposed to be snowing by morning...
