My area of focus is in North Georgia, an area of bedroom communities. Over the past several years the 'million dollar row housing' was the rage. Now during this economic slow down, and organic correction, I find myself in what I call the million dollar war zone.
Empty subdivisions with maybe one or two magnificent homes sitting empty, builders gone. It seems a daunting task, yet one I am willing to tackle.
I find that the old boy network of develpment, and the old school world or real estate sales are no longer working. They need fresh, new ideas, energetic and positive salespeople, and more importantly someone who is not afraid of what is going on.
I have felt this 'correction' for sometime now. Working with artists, you learn to be more in tune with the current trends. The new luxury home market was absurd, each one looking like the next. No special personal touches, people moving in and filling their homes with things that had no personal meaning. I knew it would end, and i knew it would be just like it is.
What shall we do now? Learn to love our homes, and to fill our spaces with treasures, not things. Reach out into our communities and help each other. Working together is what will fix this mess.
