Chef Hans Rueffert
If you haven't heard of Chef Hans Rueffert, you are really missing out, not only on great cooking ideas and techniques but a truly moving story of his battle with cancer. Hans grew up in Jasper Georgia over their family restaurant, the Woodbridge Inn. (Great place to eat by the way, put it on your list). Hans host his own cooking show and was selected out of 10,000 applicants to be one of the 8 finalist (the only Southerner in the finals) to compete on Food Channel's "The Next Food Network Star." Hans finished third in the competition. Check out his cookbooks and his blog.
Sara Auman
For great gourmet goodies, visit Proprietress Sara Auman at her upscale boutique "Out of the Blue" located in downtown Blue Ridge. Sara will introduce visitors to varied selection of the finest wines and foods from all over the world. Shop for fine French table linens, hand-painted Italian ceramics and furniture. This is the kind of gallery one will find in New York, Atlanta or Miami. Not what one would expect in our quaint mountain town of Blue Ridge at the foothills of the ancient Applalachians. Pleasantly unexpected!

Donna,
Yummy! Sounds wonderful and healthy too, a great combination. I love the Food Network and have heard Hans' name but have never caught his show. I'm going to check out his blog.
Donna, What a nice event. Good food and good FOR you, something I have been striving more for!
Cynthia: He has a really moving story of his ongoing battle with cancer and talks about it on his blog. I love the Food Network too and actually being at an event like this and smelling the wonderful aromas of the food really made an impact. Wonder when smell-a-vision will finally be developed. LOL
Carol: This was really a lot of fun. I know New York City has more than its share of great chefs so this was very special to be able to have an event like this in our area with one of our renowned Southern chefs.
Oh Yum -- I love good food -- and he sounds like anexcellent chef. I have't watched food network much -- it sounds like I should. Sara's shop shounds like a place I'd enjoy!
Alexsandra: Hans has an amazing story of his fight with cancer. He has his own blog which I've referenced in the post and it's a very heartfelt and touching story. Interesting to follow him as he puts up a courageous fight against the disease. He's local talent and North Georgia is very proud of him. Thank you for your comment.
