One of the things I absolutely love about living in Blue Ridge Georgia is that even though we are far removed from the hustle and bustle of the modern world in many ways, in just over an hour, we can be in one of the largest cities in the United States: Atlanta.
Yesterday, we took the whole family to see “The Jersey Boys” a Broadway musical at the fabulous Fox Theater. This is not a review of the show, though it was fantastic…I’d recommend it to anyone, especially if you know anyone from Jersey.
It’s just so great to be able to access that level of performance from where we live. Pablo Picasso said that Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life, and life in Blue Ridge can get pretty dusty. It is so refreshing to take a day trip down to the city and briefly experience the energy and dynamics of city living.
Of course it isn’t long before the noise, traffic and crowded conditions work their magic, and we all long for the peace and solitude that abounds in Blue Ridge. Just the same, it’s amazing that every show I’ve seen on Broadway has come to Atlanta. There’s so much culture, arts & events every week that you can always find something to do there. And when I’ve had my fill of city life, I can go home and rest my head in my own log cabin in the mountains; where life runs at a slower pace, and so does my blood pressure. Amen.

Mark,
I understand completely what you are saying about being out-of-the-way! I live at the Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Very small communities surrounding a HUGE Lake. Just southwest of the capital of Missouri and appx. 2 hours away from St. Louis (one way) and Kansas City (the other).
Like the Blue Ridge area you live in, the Lake area is beautiful too! I'm orginally from the Quad Cities...Davenport, IA, to be exact, and it was a large metro area. It took me quite a while to get used to the Lake of the Ozarks, but now, I wouldn't go back to the QC!
Have to love the peaceful, beautiful serene areas of the good old USA!
Enjoy your mountains and I'll enjoy my lake...nice talking with you. Peggy, I love Mountains too, Christopher
Peggy, I know what you mean about it taking a while to get used to, too. I adjusted to the quiet life faster than my wife did, but once you get out of "Rat Race Mode" and give in to the peace and beauty of the area, it changes you. We have a great lake here, too, but it's shores are 75% US Forest Service, so what is available for sale is very expensive (raw land 1 million dollars an acre), so I just visit it in the Summer, but I love the Lake, too. Thanks for visiting. Real nice chatting with you. MARK
Well...
You have Atlanta we have The Mouse. Although, there are folks who would debate on whether or not The Mouse is cultural in nature :)
TLW...ROAR!
Well, TLW, the mouse can lead you anywhere it is in your nature to go. Judging by your whip and gloves...well...I'm not sure where that would take you, but I am glad you find your way to my blog site from time to time. Always a pleasure to see you.
