After many requests (Emily) here is some information on the new $1,800 tax credit for new home purchases. On May 11th, the Gov. Purdue signed House Bill 261 which provides $1800 State Tax Credit (1.2% up to $1800). The new tax credit is available for new homes and resales that were listed prior to May 11th and foreclosure properties. Purchases must be closed by November 30th, 2009. You may claim one-third of the credit available in each taxable year, and may carry forward unclaimed amounts. There are no income restrictions and you don’t have to be a first time home buyer to receive the new tax credit. This is also in addition to the $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers. There you have it, yet another incentive to make a new home purchase now. Call me if you have any questions. 770-654-6656.
