How to Dress Up Your Coffee Tables & End Tables

It's amazing how a few decorative pieces placed on a coffee table and end table can make a difference in the look and feel of a room. Fortunately, it doesn't take a lot to achieve the look that's appealing to the eye.

Here are a few examples:

While the pictures in the slide show are vacant homes that we had staged throughout metro Atlanta, the following principles can be applied whether you're selling your home or not.

Here are a few tips on how to dress-up your coffee tables and end tables:

  • Decide on a color/theme - When making this decision, take into consideration the colors that surround the table(s). In a more traditional home, I tend to lean towards florals, candle sticks and books. In a contemporary home, it could be a single arrangement or even glass candle holders.
  • Vary the height of the items - Imagine a table top with everything the same level - it just doesn't work. I used, in several of these examples, books to gain the height I was looking for.
  • Shop Wisely - Fortunately, I'm surrounded by a great selection of stores from which to shop. Most of the items in the slide show came from Michaels (florals are typically on sale in the front of the store), Home Goods (love their selection) and Kirklands (mostly for the candle sticks and books).
  • Strive for balance - The easiest solution is to use two matching lamps on the end tables. In doing so, you have a more polished look.
