There have been several articles recently about what is called HABITUATION. I think that you will be hearing this word more frequently in books, etc.
HABITUATIONis the concept that as we are exposed to something over and over, we basically become unaware of it. Do you ever lock your car as you enter the mall, and then once you are in the mall, wonder if you locked it? This hold true of all the things that we do repetitively, like brush our teeth, get dressed, drive to work, etc.
Scarecrows in corn fields are effective for a while. But as the crows get used to the un-menacing figure, they are no longer scared of it and it becomes virtually invisible to the birds. The only solution is to put the scarecrow in a different location and the process starts all over.

Another example of HABITUATION is found in the case of odors. A person is not able to smell his/her own house, because of being exposed to that smell consistently. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about here.
SO...how does this pertain to REAL ESTATE? Here's how. We get into a rhythm, a routine, maybe even a rut. We do the same things every day, and sometimes we are not even aware of it! Have you ever had a day that by 5 or 6 pm, you felt pretty tired, but it was hard to identify what took up a full day of work?
Here's my suggestion...write down 10 things that you want to accomplish each day (or 8 or 9) You can write this down in the morning or the day before. At the end of the day, see how many you got done and create the list for the next day.
Do things a little differently than normal. Break the pattern and move your "to-do list" to your CONSCIOUS mind, and out of your SUBCONSCIOUS mind.

Good point Al. Many days go by and I feel that I just lost control of my schedule ! Thanks for a good reminder.
You are on target. Its human nature to lull into a routine. However you get out of that when you need to.
