North Fulton Charities is in need of food for those in need

An agent in my office just sent out an email about North Fulton Charities. There was an article in the Alpharetta News stating the charity normally sees 75 families a day, but they are now seeing 100 families daily. I went to the website for the charity and browsed the site for awhile. Under the donations section I found the following:

  • $10 buys gas for a man looking for work.
  • $14 will purchase a MARTA pass of one week.
  • $25 will pay for medicine for a senior or child.
  • $50-$100 will pay a utility bill and keep the water, gas or electricity on one more month.
  • $250 will pay the balance of rent due and stop an eviction.
  • $500 or more will provide the means to address the emergency needs of several families.

I guess I never really thought about what my donations to church go to, but when you think about it...I'm sure a portion of these donations go to organizations like these. It doesn't take much to make a huge impact in somebody's life...and more often than not that person is somehow impacting someone else's life.

While heading to the office today I caught a news story reporting on the increased levels of stress amongst the population and related this to individuals that are having difficulties paying rent and mortgage...I would imagine that this could be related to the increase in families in need that North Fulton Charities is receiving.

It is great that we are all so fortunate to live in a country that has organizations and charities to help those in need...many are not as fortunate.
