Is Georia Power at Lake Sinclair closing?

Today I got a very important email for Putnam County residents. We need to show our support for Georgia Power and Plant Branch. The tax implications alone should be enough to cause concern, but the jobs that would be lost in our county should also be on your mind. County Commissioner Alan Foster sent the following email.

The Development Authority and public officials have arranged transporation or I am sure you could take your own vehicle as well. Please show your support. And share this information wtih all residents and property owners at Lake Sinclair and Putnam County.

On February 13th the Putnam Development Authority, in conjunction with the Board of Commissioners and City Council, has arranged for transportation to a GA Public Services Commission ( PSC) meeting in Atlanta. The purpose of the trip is to support the continued operation of Plant Branch.

As most of you already know, Plant Branch is a major contributor to our sales tax revenue. A loss of revenue from this source would reduce county and city revenues used for public safety, roads and other infrastructure projects. The PSC will consider various alternatives at the Feb. 13th meeting. It is thought a significant showing of public support may encourage the to maintain the operational status of the Plant.

The bus(s) will leave for Atlanta at 7:30 am on the 13th and

return in mid-afternoon. There is no cost to participants.

Please email roddieanne@eatonton.com or call 706-485-7701

for further info and to reserve a seat.

You are encouraged to contact friends and neighbors you feel may be interested in participating.
