Why Do The Numbers Keep Changing?

Obama is attractive, youthful, has a nice smile, engaging manner... a lot of people don't pay attention to anything else.

I heard a news report that the Obama campaign is now working on a plan to start a campaign to "lower expectations" because he will not be able to do all that he has promised. As I have posted in other blogs, he did the same to us in Illinois when he was elected to the state senate and US senate. Don't say I didn't warn anyone!! Good post!!

as he gets more and more support, he changes the numbers....who knows what the changes will be if there is a landslide...Yikes!

I'm fearful that we'll see the real number on January 20th.  Everyone will get a tax increase when he lets the Bush tax cuts expire...not just the top 2% like he keeps repeating.  That sounds much better to the masses.

I have no problem with changing numbers because they all come from politicians and political analysts. None of them know how to tell the truth about anything.

Well the majority of people in this country are poor and it has nothing to do with lack of initiative, laziness or any of the common complaints. Even McCain in 2006 has said that rich people can afford to pay more in taxes. If you want I can provide the link. The only person who has changed is McCain it seems. I cant for the life of me figure out how on earth everyone else can be so greedy. I mean that is what this is. Talking about a tiny increase in taxes that would have absolutely no effect on anyone who is rich or continue to tax the crap out of people who a few thousand dollars can mean the difference between life and death. I guess people have this sick sense of entitlement in this country and have to convince themselves that its ok to be greedy.

Yepper by Tuesday night it will be back down to his OLD number of $42,000/yr.

Folks .... watch what you wish for ..... Change is about to happen if Obama get elected and it isn't the change you are wanting.

My husband and I are now a house divided for the first time ever. I really hit the roof today when I read a newspaper article that said Obama's illegal alien aunt was living on taxpayer dollars in public housing in Boston.

Most persons I know in real estate give a lot more than Joe Biden's $350 average a year!  What is Joe's excuse?  Let's talk about Joe Biden now...why is he so cheap?  Why is Joe Biden so greedy?  Is Congress exempt from giving their own money to charity? 

Why is Obama's aunt on welfare in a housing tenement in Boston?  Why has Obama not helped his own aunt with his own money?  Has he not heard that Charity begins at home?  Or does he want the government to help her only even if she is an illegal alien?

Jim he has to find some way to pay for ALL those promises that he has made.  To bad that he cannot take some of the millions that he has raised from all of those special interest groups (that he is going to have to pay back in political favors if he gets elected) to pay for some of those promises.

On Halloween night, several of my neighbors were having a lively discussion about the election. No one can understand why people are so willing to drink the Obama Kool-Aid.

BTW, one of the neighbors mentioned that they read that the reason he really went to Hawaii was to have the governor seal his birth certificate papers. They said his birth place is being investigated by someone because his grandmother at one time said he was born in Kenya, making him ineligible for the Presidency. I haven't seen anything else about this issue ... have any of you heard anything??

Another topic going around is something to do with part of his plan that would bankrupt the coal industry. What's with that?

It's hard to get the real facts vs what may just be planted rumors. Sometimes it seems he has more power to shut down people than the Chicago Mob.

Hi Jim!  If you're pandering to 98% of the People (the ones who are NOT in the top 2% of income-earners), then why not keep lowering the numbers to pull them all in?  Isn't that what politicians do?!  The problem is, we're supposed to be living the American Dream, which entails becoming independently wealthy (aka earning over $250K per year)--I guess he won't be needing the additional $151K of the Presidential salary that would put him over that cap?  Maybe he can share that with someone less fortunate?  NOT!

I heard them Jim, It was just on the news. I think this could cause him to lose many votes in Ohio and Virginia. Large Coal states.

We all know politicians change their mind and maybe Obama is just being downright deceitful? Well, did McCain change his mind (or lost his mind) and now wants the government to buy all bad mortgages? If Obama messes up as President then the Republicans will have their chance again in 4 years, but the last 6-8 years of Republican "leadership" is what has paved the way for democrats (Obama).

Hi again Jim--I was not aware of the aunt's citizenship status but, it doesn't surprise me. I'm very anxious to see how the day ends on Tuesday and if he does win, I'm sure most of this will come out in the media--a newspaper editor once told me that the media loves the democrats in office because they have more 'dirt' to write about! That may explain the media having already called him the 'winner.'

Jim - If I hear one more time that his "tax cuts" are going to 95% of the people I think I'll scream.  When 40% of those people don't even pay taxes, it's not a tax cut it's called a "hand out". I'm praying America gets it right on Tuesday....our votes have never been more important.

The plan was presented based on the fact that the U.S. economy was fundamentaliy sound.  So being that it was not, the plan had to change.  We can't be spending more money that we do not have as the Bush Administration has done for the past 8 years. 

Chad- The 5 million dollars was McCain's definition of RICH, not middel class. We all know that the definition of rich is subjective. I think rich is $200,000. What is everyone elses definition? No Jim, the fact that we have had 8 years of Bush who put us in a no win situation and cost us billions of dollers is at fault.  Oppose a war that can not be won and spend 10 billion/per month, makes no sense.  Vietnam was the same way, it cost alot of money, alot of lives, but was a lost war.  Korea cost alot of money, cost alot of lives, it was a lost war.  Call them police artions or what not, they were wars. 

So we are commited.  The price is now 10 billion/month today.  We (as a country) do not have 10B/month now.  So yes, the numbers have to change on a dailey, weekly, monthlt basis. 

This election has been going on for 2 years.  This war alot longer.

Bush had no power.  Congress funds the war.  So what about the Wall Street Mess?  Fannie mae and Freddie Mac?  Federal oversight?  They also fall under Congress - by regulation, oversight and law!  Do they get a pass?

The way I look at it?  I run a business.  If the changes are radical - you can kiss real estate good bye forever. You can kiss property values goodbye.  I know real estate investors that are sitting on the sidelines now with millions, looking to see who may be elected.  Nothing will affect real estate more than a major change in tax policy.   Herbert Hoover (A Republican) made thee fatal mistake of raising personal taxes at the wrong time.  He insured the Great Depression!

Chad-The numbers are changing because Obama is only saying what will get him elected. He knew all along that the $250,000 was a way to start class warfare and he could get the vote of people making less than that. Rest assured, he will tax us ALL. Why do you think he wants to "lower expectations"? Please answer this for me since you did not in your last post.
