The media likes to discuss the negative......and only the negative. I would love to see a major news network actually bring a few top Real Estate agents on and have them share why today is such a great time to buy real estate.
With rates between 5.5% and 6.0% and inventory at record highs, people will find themselves saying "I should of" a year from now. Local inventory (GA) has seen a slow but steady decline over the past 2 months. Eventually we will level out and sellers will no longer be "desperate" and buyers will be left on the side lines wondering where the bargains went.
I had a client recently tell me......."I can't believe the American people. If shoes or cars were on sale, they would be flocking to the stores. But if real estate is ‘on sale', it's a depressed market. If I had the money, I would be buying land as fast as I could sign the contracts. When the rebound comes.....and it will......you will hear everyone say ‘I could have bought that for $_____ 6 months ago"
My advice.......if you are in a financial situation where you can buy......don't wait for others to start buying before you do. You will miss out!!! Regardless of what is going on in the stock market, real estate will always have value. While that value may take time to increase based on current markets, it will still increase. And at the end of the day, you own property. There was a time in our country when people fought wars to own land......and now that it is available on every corner.....people are scared.
