Voter turnout in Sharpsburg Georgia is extremely heavy.

High voter turnout in Sharpsburg Georgia led to long lines for the November General Elections. The voter turnout at the A.O. Bridges Community Center in Sharpsburg was extremely heavy in Tuesday's general election! Area voters filled parking lots and grassy area throughout the city and queued up to wait for an opportunity to cast their ballots.

The long wait was mitigated by the glory of a gorgeous fall day, with bright warm sunshine dancing off of the beautifully colored leaves. The crowd was patient and orderly.

Other area voting precincts also reported much higher than average voter turnout. The interest of the electorate in this election is being demonstrated throughout Georgia as well. The polls are open until 7:00 P.M. and anyone in line at that time will be allowed to vote.

Voting is a privilege. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to have a say in the future of America.

Richard - took me all of 5 minutes to vote here in Athens. No line, more poll volunteers than voters this morning, but that was about 9. I will say that when I left there was a line about 20 deep to get into the place.

Richard- It is nice in Oregon because we can mail-in our votes. No lines and you can do it early. I wonder if we will have record turn outs for this election?

Mike...

These photos were taken about 10:30 A.M. and it looked like the line was getting longer!

Lori...

We have both mail and early voting, and approximately 50% of the expected voters had cast ballots BEFORE today! Wow.

Richard,  While you had a captive audience did you at least hand out real estate flyers :)  The interest this year is amazing.  I'll have to wait for the results to figure out why.

I voted at about 1:45 and waited about 30 minutes in line.  I'm glad it's over, at least my part in it.  Don't forget to watch the Daily Show tonight.  Special show at 10:00 on Comedy Central.

Richard, it was over 40 minutes at the Newnan Town Hall precinct this morning. My wife voted this afternoon and it only took 5 minutes. I guess most people who didn't vote early were as eager as I was to vote this morning.

Richard:  The lines weren't long enough for me to snap a photo of this morning.  Though I did end up waiting a bit longer than I would have originally anticipated just by looking at the line.

( 11/04/08 03:37PM ) — Mike Saunders

Richard - my wife went around 10:30 this morning and it also only took her about 5 minutes.

Richard I...

I was nervous enough just taking photos! Some people were looking at me very funny.

Susan...

I may just chill tonight, but who knows? THX

Darrell...

I think the line in Sharpsburg was moving pretty fast, as they have about 20 machines in there!

Chris Ann...

I think that maybe my area was an anomoly? Could be.

Mike...

I guess that you just live in an apathetic area! lol

My wife and I walked to our polling place here in Silicon Valley (CA) at about 11:30am today, to try to help alleviate any traffic and parking issues, and also to get some exercise. :-)  Turned out that the exercise was the only thing really needed.  The voters were outnumbered by poll volunteers by about a 3 to 1 ratio.  I think it may be due to so many participating in early mail-in voting.

Official Notice: Due to long lines at polling places, those voting strictly along party line, race, and/or gender are being asked to help relieve the congestion, spend a little time tonight studying the issues, and vote on Wednesday.

Richard - Apathetic - this is a college town, with a lot of beer.

Beer?

Vote?

Beer?

Vote?

BEER!

Richard, glad you had a good turnout. The fall foliage looks beautiful.

Richard - Glad you had a nice day!

I voted this morning.  I honestly could not make a decision until I was in the booth.  I am still feeling queasy about it.  This is the first time I wasn't absolutely sure who I thought should be 'my President'.

David...

We had early voting here and people waited every day. I wonder why we seem to be so overcrowded here?

Mike...

But that would involve advanced planning, no be sold before the polls close in GA! lol

Gary...

We take the privilege seriously here in Coweta County!

April...

It was beautiful!

Mel...

Well it's YOUR choice and nobody else can tell you what to do!

I am hearing about 1+ hour wait in some areas.  This is going to be interesting!

( 11/04/08 05:52PM ) — JL Boney, III Columbia, SC Real Estate

I waited in the rain for an hour only to wait three more hours to vote once inside. All and all not a bad day to be able to throw in my 2 cents.

( 11/04/08 06:38PM ) — Tammy Lankford- lake sinclair

I did not have any line in Putnam County.  But we had a lot of booths and a LOT of people voted early this year.

Bill...

It's worth the wait!

JL...

Good for you. You have to exercise the privilege at all cost!

Tammy...

We had a lot of booths and a lot of early voters, but still a lot of ballots to be cast!

Richard,

I won't comment about the people standing in line!

I early voted before I had to fight the traffic!

But, I will say something about that beautiful photo you shot!  Awesome!

The turnout in California was the biggest in history. This election is monumental and it's great to see so many people excersise their right to vote.

Richard,

The turnout here is Missouri was high also.  We shall soon know the results.

Ann

Sheila...

LOL I guess I can even make a boring line look good!

Cameron...

It is a wonderful thing to see!

Ann...

And then we can all move forward!

Richard,

We had a beautiful day here too.  I got out and tried to beat the rush and was in line at 5:45am and when they opened the doors I was like #62 to vote.  Some of those folks must have gotten there before the poll workers.

( 11/05/08 07:46AM ) — Nancy Larson

Now, it is over. Yet we have yet to begin. Let's pray for guidance as Obama selects his key people around him.

Richard,

Moving forward is a good idea....

Ann
