All hands on deck! The time has finally come! The Friends of Aikahi Playground are looking for more than 1,200 volunteers for the "extreme" 4 day makeover to build the new Aikahi Playground. The construction effort takes place February 13-16. The theme of the playground is "From the Mountain to the Sea" and will feature a volcano with a lava slide, tree houses, gecko ladders and outrigger canoe attractions.
People of all ages are encouraged to come out and help. You know the saying, "many hands make for light work". If you can rake leaves, wield a hammer, turn a screw or have more advanced trade skills and have even just 1 hour to spare, please consider stopping by and lending a helping hand. If you can't handle heavy lifting but still want to help, stop by and help pass out free lunches and bottled water to the volunteers or help keep an eye out on the keiki while their parents pitch in.
My family and I have been looking forward to the new playground and plan to be there to help. I hope that you and your family and friends will be able to stop by.
