Haiku Stairs (or otherwise known as the "stairway to heaven") is located on the Kaneohe side of Oahu and now closed to hikers. The stairs were riginally used to access longwire radio antennaes high above Haiku Valley and stretch about 1/2 mile long and over 4,000 steps.

4,000 Stairs! Can you imagine building that Stairway to Heaven, I'm tired even thinking of climbing these :)
WOO Hoo, I suspect if one is out of shape, I can pretty well figure out how this got's it name. That little speck taking it's last breath would be me. Somewhere down at the bottom in the trees might be the evidence of those who tried. That could also explain why it is sooooooooooo lush, ? :-)
Hi Sally~ If I had to climb that to get to heaven, I would be in deep trouble! This is absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing. I would probably vote to take the "escalator" to heaven instead. :)
Beautiful photo. I would be huffing and puffing if I tried to climb that!
Very nice!!!!
Appropriately named, Sis. I'd quit smoking before climbing that monster:)
Hi Sally-That stairway to heaven would feel like hell on this body but it sure is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. <SMILE>
SALLY..Sure is beautiful..Great title...Have to be very

Vickie: Well, let's hope we have wings lol
Jared: Me too!
Wow, so beautiful but very intimidating at the same time! Great photo!
Beautiful, Sally! Seems rather majestic and peaceful.
That is so cool! It's beautiful. These photos from other states are so much fun. It's a nice change of pace from the same old, same old scenery =)
Kelly: I huff and puff just looking :)

Lisa: Yeah...and we say the same looking that a way lol
I was out in the back yard admiring a garden snake that's found a place by the (Home Depot) fountain, thinking, "that's cool." I'd plopped in a few flowers a few days ago.
HARDLY! You live in a place beyond comprehension- it's so stunningly beautiful.
Hi Sally, What a gorgeous photo. I can't even imagine the 4,000 steps... It tires me out thinking of it. Thanks for sharing though, enjoyed the post.
Sally beautiful shot, but the only way that I would climb 4,000 steps is ir you were carrying me ...... LOL
Sally, Twenty years ago I would have done this---now it's painful to LOOK at but it certainly is beautiful!
Sally - Really Pretty spot! I would love to climb those stairs one day. Its always been a dream of mine to go to Hawaii... I can dream I guess...
Sally--Those stairs look beautiful from above but I'd bet they look very painful close up!
Amazing, Sally. What a great photo. Reminds me, a little, of my climb up Diamond Head last year. I sure that doesn't even compare.
Jeff
Woo Hoo, Thanks for the call today, it was just what the doctor ordered. Thank You again, it made my day extra special!
Sally - another excellent photo ... my only question would be were you airborne when you took this shot or did you climb another mountain without stairs. The angle of the photo appears to be from above
Wow Sally a half mile of stairs. Now that would be a work out! It is beautiful and the green of the vegetation on the mountain is amazing.
I am on my way. Have the drinks ready! LOL, great photos, thanks a bunch.
Sally - what a great photo - and it does look like quite a climb on the Haiku stairs. I like the name "Stairway to Heaven".
Love the title, but it think about half way up I would be regretting my decision to embark on that journey.
This is very pretty! When we took a helicoptor tour of the island we saw many lush spots like this from above. I think though, after trying to be physically active in recent months, that would be a fun hike. A half mile doesn't seem so bad, but the elevation could be a killer.
Sally, that is a beautiful photo, and thank you for the explanation.
hi Sally,
What an intriguing and beautiful photo....I'd love to hike up those stairs. Just imagine the view....
Jo
Wow...thanks for coming by to view the Haiku Stairs! Got a cold....in and out of AR...
Hi guys. I've gone into hundreds of [fortune-teller's parlors], and have been told thousands of things, but nobody ever told me I was a policewoman getting ready to arrest her.
I am from Arab and now study English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: "Buy with confidence! Purchase today and you can return it in the original."
