Sally - Thanks for the safety info. Very nice post-exceleent content. Mahalo.
Marlene: I just posted this..you're pretty quick! Thanks for coming by with your nice comments!
Thanks for the tips - I've been seriously thinking about visiting Hawaii sometime in the near future. Thinking about the island of Molokai or Kauai - something with a little less traffic. Any suggestions?
Great info. I was in Hawaii, mainly waikiki beach area (though we toured the entire island) a few years ago. Some of the cliffs/dropoffs are amazing and definitely require ones respect!
Abraham: My mother was born and raised on Kauai and if any island I have visited more is there. It is called the Garden Isle and on one highest point on a mountain is the wettest spot in the world. Beautiful! Molokai is ranch land....but beautiful...never been there...
Kauchik: You really need to visit other islands! And yes, respect is a good word with safety!
Thanks for the feedback Celeste - both spots sound very nice and I'm sure they are - I'll just have to flip a coin or go to both =D
Abraham: I suggest doing Google searches all over the place....you'll need to spend some time researching and browsing.
Sally, Love it! I do miss some things about the islands, you and Randy bring me back. Is there anywhere on the links that cautions visitors not to take lava rock from the Big Island?
Hey Sally, this is a great post! I would definitely want to read this before I went to Hawaii.
Not only a good post, but timely as summer is almost upon us. I will be there in November with 7 grandchildren, and from experience in Maui and the Big Island I know that the kids don't always pay attention when they are caught up in the activities. thank you for these links, they will be quite useful.
Kathy
Sally - what a great idea. Who would have thought there was so much one should consider? Thank you for sharing this helpful info - I will keep it in mind for when I finally get to HI.
Jeff
Great post Sally. We have heard so many reports of tourist having accidents in the ocean or on the trails because they do not know what to be careful of or they do not respect the ocean and its dangers.
Lysa: I'll be following up with that kind of stuff today!
Steph: YUP! We've had a bunch of stuff on the news...so sad when I hear people drowned...didn't understand the undertows and currents.
Kathy: I'm sure it'll help a lot of people planning a trip or relocating here!
Jeff: Start planning!
Randy: Yeah, I saw on the news two nights ago about drowning..and someone videotaped their friend in trouble in the surf....
Looks like a lot of great info! Definately going to bookmark this so I can check out all the sites and be prepared before I come out! :o) Thanx!
Inga: Thanks for your interest. It may come in handy for you! I just put up another one about Hawaiian Spirits and Superstions as well......
Sally - this is one (perhaps there are many) that I missed when it first came out, so I appreciate the link from your new 3 part Visitor Series.
Sally-you forgot one thing:
-decent wrap-around shades so you don't poke your eye out on the umbrellas in the drinks!
Steve
I must have the notify me box checked cuz I saw Steve's comment in my e-mail......I was laughing and my grandkids thought I'd lost my mind :) You have to admit, it was pretty funny. I drank many things with umbrellas while I was there, but I don't think I ever stabbed myself in the eye :)
Sharon: Wow, I just caught this...good thing you already came here and we met lol!
Steve: I don't drink lol! i do have nice shades though lol!
Kathy: Me either...and I've lived here for _____ years. :)
