Can you believe it's already the middle of August? Where does the time go? Before you know it, the $8,000 federal tax credit will be gone. As of now, it is set to expire the end of November. If you are a first time buyer, or someone who hasn't had an ownership interest in a home in the last 3 years, the closk is ticking. You have to close escrow and have the property in your name by November 30th to get the tax credit.
There seems to be a lot of activity this month, many buyers have decided it is time to make their move into ownership. So far, there have been a total of 25 sales islandwide, 5 of those were REO bank owned properties.
It appears that sellers are finally understanding that to be competitive in this market they just cannot overprice their home and hope to bring it down later if needed. This stategy rarely works in a sellers favor.
