Now that the New Year is upon us and we have been busy gearing up to make this a great year...it's time to take a break! We all need a break, right? Taking a break recharges the batteries, rejuvenates the spirit, and de-stresses the mind. When I need a break I like to take a walk on a beach nearby in South Maui. Mai'poina Oe Lau beach or Sugar Beach in North Kihei is a long, continuous beach that is great for walking or jogging, especially in the morning after the sunrise, or just at sunset. It's also a great spot for windsurfing and kite surfing.
I took these pictures a couple days ago when the sun was warm and the trade winds were low, so no windsurfers were out that day.
There are several condo complexes that line the northern end of the beach, most of which allow vacation rentals. The views of Molokini, Kahoolawe, and Lana'i from shore are terrific! During whale season, humpbacks can be seen playing in the water!
There is nothing like taking a break, walking along the beach with the sand beneath your feet, and gazing out at the incredible ocean views (especially when it's just about a 2 minute drive from my home) to recharge your batteries. It's one of the great things about living on Maui!
