The Financial Crisis: through the looking glass...it's not about the politics!

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

The Walrus & The Carpenter- Lewis Carroll

Have you ever had the feeling that we are on the other side of the looking glass. That the world is completely insane, devoid of reason, and completely contrary to what you thought the world was about.

Are you beginning to wonder about the legitimacy of our government, the wisdom behind their pompous displays of ineffectuality, and the endless rhetoric with no results. Are we holding our politicians accountable or are we too stupid to recognize the gobbelty gook that flows from their lips.

How can we accrue such enormous debt, unfathomable in it's scope and repercussions, and continue to bail out the same institutions that created it to begin with. Why haven't any politicians addressed the shear audacity of our Fed for continuing to prop up a system that thrives off unsustainable debt and the debt of American citizens!

Will electing either candidate into office really 'change' anything when the candidates practice politics like high stakes poker where they bet your gullibility that they actually have a viable plan that will work, especially when everyone else in Washington hasn't a clue to what's happening to our economy...or so they say. What is our Federal Banking system really doing to this country. I guarantee neither candidate will touch this topic because the oligarchy that is our Fed, won't allow it.

"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"

"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

Kimo - I constantly have this feeling.  I want to ask, "Are you not listening?  Didn't you just notice that?  Can we try some logic or perhaps some compassion?"  I love the way you tied it in with this poem, it's perfect.

You are so much closer to my heart on this very topic, as well as many others I am sure, than you can ever know - and they can ever realize. Nothing will "change" after Nov. 14, unless, as voters we actually change who is in office on ALL levels, not just the "Patsy" but Congress, Senate, etc.

Bravo!  Very, very well done, and worthy in my own opinion as a featured post. (Which I recommended!)  It is very relevant to our times.

Great food for thought!  Best wishes!

Aloha Jim, mahalo for commenting. I think the American people are smart enough to realize that they are being railroaded.

Very true.  Sometimes a fix foes not mean it will be without pain.

I enjoyed your post!  It is all very mystical i think in Washington.  This year I"m only voting for people who are not presently in office.

It's so hard to tell fact from fiction on these big financial issues lately. One things for sure, the bailout is just a beginning and our political system has a long, long, way to go. I know our owner recently commented that he does not believe we'll every see another real estate boom like we did from 2001 to 2006 in our lifetime.

Aloha Allen, there are a lot of secrets being held from the public when it comes to politics and government. There is a prevailing belief in our government that we the people should be kept in the dark when it comes to the agenda of the politicos. It's not so much the politicians as it is those who own them and their agenda is greed. Thanks for stopping by.

Aloha Ronnie, many people don't realize that it is our Fed and it's authority that has created this mess and it was done intentionally. We have a fractional reserve banking system, which allows private banks to control currency issue, the exact same beast that Jefferson mentions in the following quote-

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
Thomas Jefferson 1802-

Mahalo for your comment.

It really doesn't help any that the American people want a President that they can 'relate to' or 'have a beer with'.  I don't know about you, but I would take an absolute *ss in office if they could bring our country back to it's glory and keep us all safe.

It seems ridiculous that poles criticize Obama for being 'too intellectual'..... Yes, I think I just let my bias come out.  I've been a Republican for my whole life... and now I'm actually ashamed to admit it.  On Thursday, during the debates, with laptop in hand I ordered myself a 'Republicans for Obama' yard sign.....

The question is truely based though... will Obama really be able to fix anything?  Lobyists, the good ol boy network.... etc.  Not to mention, he could still win the popular vote only to have McCain still be declared president... like that hasn't happened before, right?

(sorry for the rant Kimo.... just a little passionate these days.... frustration is constantly piling up with our election and economy)

Aloha Melissa,

I'm glad you can express that angst; it's important for your wellbeing. Imagine, a world where there is no corruption or greed. Where everyone votes on purposeful and cooperative legislation and people are not threatened by lack. If you can imagine it it can happen.

Peace,
