It's that time of year again. The time when people in office, sanguine office seekers and special interest political groups become really interested in you, your opinions and which way you lean on the political spectrum. It's annoying enough to be bombarded by calls from a single party, but if more than one party is represented under your roof you get it from all sides. To add to the frustration the calls always seem to come when you're right in the middle of something or on the other line. But for most of us there is never a really good time to get these calls and we'd prefer not to be bothered in such a fashion
It's both possible and easy to put a stop to a large majority of those calls through changing the information you have on file with your county auditor's office. The auditor provides information about which voter is registered to which party in response to legitimate requests from candidates and the parties.
All you have to do to stop the calls is to resubmit your voter registration without your phone number. It's as simple as that. Your phone number is no longer required to process your voter registration. So when you file a new one, the updated information replaces what's in your file. Chances are your party will still have your information on file for a time, but when they update with the new voter registration information your number will be taken out.
These days there is so much information available about candidates, the elections are well publicized and the window for voting via absentee ballot or at a satellite location or the auditors office is very long, so we rely less on information and reminders by phone. Take back control of your phone line and submit a new registration with your phone number to stop bothersome calls around election day.
