Wow, has Meridian, ID ever changed over the years...

I was born and raised in Idaho, and my family moved to the Meridian area when I was eight. So I'm not going to give away my age, but I have lived here a long time. ; ) Anyway, I got to thinking about how much things have changed around here.

My husband and I graduated from Meridian High School when it was the only High School in the Meridian School District. Next fall, Meridian School District will be opening it's 7th High School, Rocky Mountain High.

My husband and I bought our first home in Meridian in 1992 (for $70K can you believe it?). When we moved in we thought that if Meridian just had a Taco Bell and a cheep pizza place life would be perfect. Now you never have to leave Meridian to eat out. There are Thai restaurants, Sushi places, great Mexican restaurants, as well as all the national chain restaurants you could thing of.

Is all this change good? Some things are not so good, but I would have to say for the most part the changes are good. Meridian has seemed to hold onto it's small town feel, where neighbors wave to each other and watch out for each other, but you don't have to drive to Boise to go out on a date!
