Test Your Technology

Ever set up an online conference only to have technology failure your only presentation?

Here are a few suggestions:

•· Test all technology prior to needing it (I now can tether my laptop to my blackberry supposedly, but will not try using it with a client till I know it is reliable).

•· Practice makes perfect (test your new tech tools with friends and family).

•· If you want to use tech tools as part of your marketing plan, plan to be able to explain why it works.

•· Do not count on other people's abilities to provide the technology. Make sure they test it in location.

•· Some tech tools just do not work in rural areas. I went to a class in Boise, the instructor kept talking about the bird's eye view in Google earth maps. Well Google earth hasn't been here in a while. One of my listings has been occupied for three years, yet the maps still show a vacant lot.

•· Have a backup plan; be able to give a presentation without the tech tools.

So when technology systems kick you in the shin, smile, it makes you feel better.
