About 1 mile from where I live is a great little place. Its actually a little grocery store. Even cooler is the fact that it is a drive through convenience store I think that it has been open for about 3 years and my kids and I may be its biggest customers.
Around here when the snow starts flying it is kind of nice to be able to go pick up some milk or soda or ice cream, and not have to get out of the car. The drive through portion is inside the building, so when you open your window or door, no snow comes in your car.
I will admit that I have bought lots of beer there on my way home on fridays, and lots of candy for the kids after church on sundays. I can't count how many times I have bought a new gas tank for my BBQ. There have been many times we have been having a party and run down to T's (the name of the place) for something that we forgot. I love that darn store.
When I drove through for a soda this morning the clerk informed me that the owners are closing up shop this weekend. Business is just too slow right now they can't make the numbers work. Besides the store, I am really going to miss the ladies that work there. I hope they can all find other work in this crummy economy.
Here in our little town, it is getting really hard to keep watching businesses go under. I wonder if the stimulus package is ever going to work? I have a feeling that when things do start to turn around there will be people who will claim that it is the SP. Great. There is an old line that goes like this:
A day late and a dollar short.
