A perfect afternoon in a very small town

3 ir 4 times a year I am allowed by all concerned to get my granddaughter, my step-granddaughter, and the step-granddaughter who is my granddaughters half sister together. We meet at a neutral place and the girls just have fun. For three years in the summer we've met at the city pool in MIdvale Idaho. This is a VERY small town that thinks enough of it's kids to support a small but very nice city pool. Midvale is on US 95 and is halfway between Council Idaho and Weiser Idaho. It's about 75 miles North of Boise. It is a ranching area hills full of dryland wheat and the flatter areas are filled with hay fields and some lifestyle farmettes. This general area is the gateway to the Hells Canyon and Seven Devils area of Idaho. Spectacular scenery of every type from desert to alpine is just an hour or so away. I get so many calls from people in California who yearn for just what we take for granted here. When they do make it up here some take to rural Idaho life and some don't. There's a lot less people here which means less entertainment less shopping less money less opportunity less choices of any kind. You have to get along with your neighbors and co-workers because that's all you have, there's not a constant stream of new people to interact with. YOu have to learn to enjoy what you have which can mean county fairs instead of pro sports, school concerts instead of ballet, potlucks instead of elegant dining. Or if you really want all of that you can go to Boise!
