Barrington Illinois Real Estate - Unraveling The Mystery of The Half Bathroom.

What is a half bathroom? What can you do in a half bathroom, have half a bath, half a shower, or wash half of your hands? As a British citizen I always thought this was a funny name for a room that has nothing to do with a bath. In England we call them powder rooms. Do we powder ourselves in them? No of course not, so why can't we come up with a better name? What do we do in half a bathroom? Simply we use the toilet and then wash our hands. Any suggestions on a better name?

FYI - The toilet is commonly referred to in the UK as "The Loo".

When listing Barrington Illinois real estate for sale we indicate how many bathrooms there are for sale. The average home in Barrington has 2 full baths and 1 half bathroom. We indicate this on the listing as 2.1. Wait I hear cries of objection, it should read 2.5 as in 2 and a half. Well let me see. Now let us list a home with 3 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms. I am going to list this as 3.2. You get the idea. The first number is how many full baths and the second number is how many half baths. So when you see a home that has 5.7 you'll know there are 5 full baths and 7 half baths.

What about 3/4 bathrooms? Oh please don't get me started! If it has a shower as far as I am concerned it's a full bath!
