Barrington Illinois Village Homes - Our Village is Slowing Changing

The Village of Barrington Illinois and the Different Types of Properties. Our village dates back to the 1800's and there are still homes in the area that are as old as this. Some of our victorian style homes have been extremely well cared for.

Today The Village of Barrington is changing. There are homes that are being torn down and new larger homes built on the lots. Typically the homes being torn down are the smaller ones, not those larger Victorian beauties. This regeneration has slowed down over the last few years due to the market conditions and there are a number of newly built homes available for sale as short sales. This is sad but a great opportunity to buy a new home in the village at a good price if that is what you care for. The home below was newly built 3 years ago using the existing foundation. The builder kept the village colonial style of the home so it fits with the surroundings.

I wonder how long it will take for our village to look completely different. In fact I don't think it ever will. Well cared for homes that were built a long time ago can last for hundreds of years. It would be sad to think that all the older victorian homes and craftsman style homes would all disappear and be replaced with new and so I for one hope it never happens.

Barrington Village Amenities. The village is popular for buyers for many reasons. We have a Metra line stop in the village for a direct commute to Chicago. If you live in the village it is not too far to walk to the station. The Barrington Library is located in the village off Route 14 just north of Lake Cook Rd. In the center there is a Jewel Osco grocery store but you'll also find restaurants, cafes, specialty shops, banks, a theater and schools.

Homes and Roads. Some of the older village homes are located on Route 59 which runs through the village and at rush hours and lunch time the traffic is solid. Add to that the Metra line and freight train line and it can all but seize up. So consider when looking at some of the village homes for sale whether you love the home enough to deal with the busy road, or look for a home that is set back a few blocks.
