State of the Real Estate Market - What can we do?

After years of explosive growth, the housing market is finally cooling off. New national data show that the stock of unsold houses is up, prices are either stable or dropping in most places, and sales this quarter are down from a year ago, ....

The real estate headlines coming out of the national news media outlets are certainly not helping this market. I guess the number of realtors will decline sharply when this is all said and done. I guess as with most market downturns, it's going be survival of the fittest. I have cut down many business expenses unless they are producing results!!! Just curious what rest of the AR members are doing to cope up with this difficult market.

Please feel free to share your thoughts....

Personally, I am trying to find out how to locate buyers.  I am increasing my internet exposure and trying to get on with more corporate relocation.  Even in a down market, there will be buyers.  The pursuit of the American Dream coupled with corporate America moving people from place to place will keep the realtors who want to be realtors in business.  I try to ignore the papers.  I personally think they are using scare tactics to sell papers.  I have to admit sometimes they give me a panicky feeling as well.

I too have cut down on business expenses.  I have always worked alot from home, but it seems now I don't go into the office unless I have appointments, or need something.  The price of gas is the main reason and being an agent means BIG gas usage, so that is one way that I have cut back.  I was listening to the news this morning as I was getting ready, and that seemed to be their main topic - regarding the ecomony  and the "struggling" (as they put it) real estate markets all over the country.  Yes, very scary for me.

Actually things are pretty busy here.....I think things are looking up...

Things aren't as bad as the media would have us believe.  There will always be people needing to sell, and new buyers wanting to make a purchase.  As long as we are professional, we will always be able to succeed.
