Encouraging Update on My Mom's Heart

TODAY IS MY DAD'S BIRTHDAY. His Present? He got good news that my Mom should be able to come home from the hospital this coming Friday.

Yesterday Mom was doing okay but my Cousins from Saginaw drove over to see my Mom in Grand Rapids for 20 minutes. Ben already lives in GR and hence was the instigator behind peeping in on my Mom. He told me today that he walked into her room and asked "Aunt Barb do you remember me?" (yes, I'm a junior named after my Mom). She asked "Ben, have you heard from Barbie?" See, I'm in Chicago and I've had to stay here because my Mom thought having my other three siblings there would be enough. He told her that he just texted me and I responded: "I LOVE YOU MOM!" via text. He showed her the text and she smiled, he said. Then I texted Ben and told him to let Mom know that I"m stuck on a stitch pattern and I can't move forward without her help so if she could, would she kind of try as I have a deadline. Did I have a problem with a stitch pattern? No, but my Mom's been through alot lately and she needs to see value that she can lend a hand and guide.

Ben asked me if I could receive photos on cell and I told him "yup". Well, that cousin of mine spammed me with six photos of my Mom yesterday. She grabbed her heart pillow and told Ben to take a picture of her with her pillow so I could see it. He did. I cried like a baby yesterday because I got to see my Mom with her new reconstruction highway heart and while she looked worn out, she looked tons better then she has in 6-8 months. I texted Ben back and told him that I was crying like a baby and that he was a "boogerhead". My cousin Carol had Ben's cell in her hand and read the message outloud. My mother broke out laughing (as much as one can laugh with that kind of surgery).

My Dad told me that the difference between yesterday and today was just unreal. So, it goes to show ya that communication is important but seeing the real thing (even long distance) helped both my Mom, My Dad and myself.

The best present I got was to be able to talk to my deaf Dad (yeh, I got my deafness from him - he should be proud of his defective gene because it's made me smart) to wish him happy birthday and to hear the joy in his voice because he got the best birthday present in 59 years - my Mom is coming home on Friday.

God answers prayers. He will always be with us through thick or thin, that's His promise. For me, I saw my Mom fight for something that she wanted and that she God was right there with her. See, Mom's body throws bloodclots so this surgery wasn't the easiest and that was on both of our minds.

So today is a celebration of my Dad's birthday and my Mom's good news.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I LOVE YOU!!! Bebo
