There are currently 260 homes for sale -- $600,000 plus -- in the areas noted above

In these areas - just two homes over 600k closed during the past month -- one for $650,000 and one for $680,000. The Barrington area was slightly stronger with 11 out of 394 listed properties closing during the past month (over 600k).

Stocks are up today due to this home sale stat which is totally meaningless for future prognostication because it was measured before the expiration of the credit.

In Chicago's Northwest Suburbs - the high end of the market is the slowest (though Barrington area has - with the stronger area of the market (as always for the past few years) - being first time home buyers. There were 38 closed transactions under $600,000 in Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich, Long Grove and Kildeer during the past month.
