Lake Barrington Walking Trails and Tennis Courts by Lake Barrington Village Hall

Located on Old Barrington Road, just to the east off Kelsey Road in Lake Barrington.

Walking is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air. Bring the whole family, even the dogs and take a walk along the hiking trails by Lake Barrington Village Hall. There is place for parking. If you go right from the start you'll head under the bridge and walk about 2 and a half miles if you go to the end and back. The trail is fairly flat, nothing too taxing. If you go left the walk to the end and back is longer, about 3 and a half miles and there are more undulations so if you have not walked for a while you might get a little leg burn!

As you can see the trail is gravel and the edges are well taken care of, but if doggy comes too, keep him on a leash and use a poop bag, you can pick one up at the start of the trail.

under the bridge at Kelsey rd

Under the Kelsey Road bridge is Flint Creek which as you can see from the photo is flowing well but is low. In times of heavy rain the creek will overflow the banks here and cut off the hiking trail. It is late September and the tress are beginning to turn. It's a great time to get out and enjoy the cooler temps.

Flint Creek is not a deep creek at this point but it runs across the back of my house in Savannah and is deeper there. It also runs all the way through Stonehenge Golf Course.

In the distance you'll notice a house. Some residents in Lake Barrington have the trails running at the back of their properties.

At the Lake Barrington Village Hall you'll also find these play areas for kids. There are bathrooms here, plenty of space to place and tennis courts as well.

As I walked this morning to take these photos I encountered a Coyote but he ran off quickly. You'll also see and hear the deer running through the forest preserve. Take the binoculars as there are plenty of birds to look at, and at one end of the trails is The Fox River, although there is not really anywhere to sit and watch. On the weekends you'll pass plenty of walkers and joggers, it's a very calming place to get some down time. Try it, we like it!
