The real estate market is challenging today.
People have been delaying their housing decisions. Decisions that would have been made in a truly "normal" market.
Many are making due with homes they have as opposed to upgrading.
Buyers are cautious.
Sellers are hesitant to put their homes on the market, and if they do, they are in no hurry to price their homes to sell.
The people that are moving are those that must move.
This market is challenging for many in the real estate business. Yours truly included.
We can either moan about our lot in life, or we can figure a way to take advantage of this market.
I choose the latter. I hope you do too.
I look at real estate as a game. I really do. It is the most fun I have ever had in a profession.
It is a game which needs to be played with a long term view.
It is a game which I will win.
This is a market that is in transition. For about two years, supply and demand have failed to meet.
There is an unusually small amount of transactions going on today. Yes there are closings, but they are few and far between.
This too will change.
So what are we doing today to take advantage of this market?
I don't chase transactions. I choose to build my business.
I have just passed my three year anniversary as a Realtor.
It has truly been a crazy, exciting, fun, frustrating, disappointing, happy, sad, and emotional three years.
Not one day has passed where I haven't grown my business.
I don't fret over closings or new listings.
My goal is to touch new individuals as the real estate professional of choice.
That's what I do. Every day.
Just a few things I am focusing on:
1. I have made a commitment to enhance my internet presence.
A. I have been an active blogger here on Active Rain since February.
B. I have created my profiles on facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and MyBlogLog.
C. I have learned that reading and commenting are as important as writing and updating.
2. I have learned new ways to market my listings online.
3. I have upped my newsletter distribution from 140 every two months to 1400.
4. I am committed to being The Expert in my area, Naperville Illinois.
5. I have a greater belief in myself and my methods than ever before. It is working.
My methods are not for everyone. They work for me.
The key is having confidence in what you are doing. In having a plan.
Perhaps altering expectations.
You can bring a horse to water, but not make them drink. But if you bring a whole lot of horses to water, some will drink. That's what I am doing.
This is the most exciting profession in the world.
And I am just learning. Always learning.
