School is almost OUT In Chicagoland!

Yes, I said, School is almost OUT --- and that is how you need to think if you are a gardener. This is the time of year to begin thinking about the landscaping and perennials for next year. A time for ordering Spring bulbs. (you know that you are going to get bombarded by Breck's catalogs and others) This is the type of information that I give to the seller who is not quite ready to put their home for sale and who is thinking about the Spring market. I suggest taking pictures of their home at different stages of the year so that potential buyers have an idea. I know so many people who move in and just start tearing up areas without even knowing what is underneath.

This is also a time to start saving seeds from bloomed plants and to start saving some cuttings. This is the perfect time for dividing Iris and peonies. I have attached a link to a site which gives further information on the division of plants. Some are best NOT to be divided now.
