Gluten Free Options in Champaign-Urbana IL

As awareness of gluten allergies is widening, more restaurants and grocery stores are getting on board with providing gluten-free options. I personally have a relative with gluten allergies and it can be difficult and frustrating for her at times to find something to eat that meets her dietary needs, especially when dining out.

The following is a list of groceries with a large selection of gluten-free foods and restaurants with special gluten-free options on their menus. As you can see, I don't have too many places on the list right now, but I'll come back and add to the list as I discover more options. Also, if anyone out there stumbles upon this blog and has something to add, please let me know in the comments below or send me an email and I'll add your suggestion to the list!

Grocery Stores:

Strawberry Fields, a natural foods store located at 306 W. Springfield in Urbana. They have gluten-free products plus a bakery section with gluten-free goods made by Pekara, a local bakery.

Common Ground Food Co-op, located in Lincoln Square in Urbana.

Natural Gourmet, a health foods store located at 2225 S. Neil in Champaign.

Restaurants:

Biaggi's- An Italian chain restaurant located at 2235 S. Neil in Champaign. Their gluten-free menu is substantial and can be found on their website.

Houlihan's- This one is also a chain, and, like Biaggi's, has a separate gluten-free menu. They're located at 1900 S. First St in Champaign and serve up a variety of American fare.

Monical's- A local pizza joint with gluten-free pizza! There are multiple locations throughout Champaign-Urbana.

Sun Singer Wine & Spirits- Don't let the name fool you. In addition to serving up a variety of drinks, Sun Singer offers affordable and super tasty soups, sandwiches and more, plus a gluten-free menu which even includes a few desserts. Yummmm. Located at 1115 W. Windsor in Champaign, it's one of my personal favorites.
