As of September 2011, homes sold in Chicago’s North Suburbs show a solid upward trend over the last 13 months.
Traditionally, September marks the end of Chicago’s summer selling season. This year is no different, with a marked decrease of closed sales from August. Looking at the big picture, though, the number of homes sold this year compared to a year ago is up 21%.
This is an excellent indicator that buyers aren’t afraid of homeownership. This also bodes well for decreasing inventory in the future.
Some areas of the country, such as Florida, are seeing the lowest levels of inventory in years. As a result, homes sell quickly and prices have ticked up.
Only the future will tell whether the Chicago area will follow suit. We can only hope!
