Buyers Agents in Illinois Struggle To Show Their Worth Over A Listing Agent

Real estate in Illinois is an ever changing market, and to a degree an ever changing career. In the 6 years I have been selling homes in Illinois, I have seen some sweeping changes about how we as Realtors promote our services and properties for sale. The internet is quickly changing the old methods of direct mail and print advertising to web sites and online marketing.

Some things are slower to change and buyers agents in Illinois still struggle to show their worth over a listing agent. What I mean by that is buyers are not always choosing to have their own independent agent rather than calling up the listing agent. Whether a buyer finds a home of interest online, a sign outside the house or in one of the few print ads, the response is that calling the listing agent is still the best thing.

You the buyer are on your own, no guidance from your agent on where to start, what to counter or where to finish. You'll be all be yourself. Regardless of how many times you have bought real estate, for me that just does not sound like good representation.
Illinois buyers agents are paid not by the buyer but by the sellers brokerage for bringing the buyer. So consider using us, we are here to represent you.
In our business we are told we must list property to thrive, why? Because buyers will contact us and we will sell more. Given that the internet is a fabulous way to advertise my services, as a buyers agent here in Illinois, I still struggle sometimes to persuade buyers that the advantages of your own buyers agent will always outweigh the reasons to call the listing agent.
I like being a buyers agent, actually I love being a buyers agent. Yes I do list some properties but about 70% of my business is working with buyers, those that understand the benefits of using me instead of the listing agent.
