Interview and then interview more

Often when I ask people how they plan to picked their agent, I get varied responses. The most common are I go to open houses and if I see a home I like I use who is there and I have a friend who is in the business or I know someone who knows someone that is an agent.

I suggest that those are great ways to start getting names, but interview many agents and get a person who you feel is going to work for your best interest.

Here are some questions you might ask:

1. Are you a full time agent?

2. What were your sales last year?

3. What were your last 5 sales? May we contact those people for references?

4. What is your average List-Price-to-Sales-Price Ratio?

5. What is your marketing plan for My Home?

6. What Are the things that separate you from your competition?

7. Will you represent me only or do dual agency? What can you not do for me as a dual agent?

These questions will start you to formulating your interview process.....
