Leoleno in Winnetka Has Grown Up!

In my original post about this store, "Leoleno in Winnetka - a Unique Young Children's Store," I spoke to the owner, Catharina Maerklin just a few weeks after she had opened her new store.

Now, eight months later, I stopped into see how she was doing and I couldn't help but notice how much more inventory she had - the store was bursting with new and exciting toys, accessories, strollers, and furniture for young children.

In addition, her "staging" area for lessons and music has been put to good use, so much so, that she prints a monthly calendar of events. Here are just a few of her offerings:

• Storybook times
• Parenting discussions
• Baby sign language classes
• Musikgarten (a nationally recognized early childhood music education class taught in conjunction with the Music Institute of Chicago.) Parents participate with their children in singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments.
• German classes - taught by Catharina herself
