Indy is the place to be in the Month of May...........

Here we are..... May ....the Indy 500 is just around the corner and the entire month of May there is stuff to do. Here is a short list of what is happening at the Speedway, for the entire activity calender go the the schedule section of the Speedway website

Saturday, May 9, 2009 Indy 500: Pole Day Qualifying, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Gates open at 7am to 6pm, tickets will be $10

That might be a great mothers day give for the moms who like racing. Featured band to play is the legendary funk of George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic.

Sunday, May 17, 2009, Chase 500 Festival Kids' Day,Noon - 4 p.m., Monument Circle; Downtown Indianapolis, Free, open to the public

This year's Kids' Day theme, "Everyday Heroes," will be the theme for this years Kid's day - Batman and Robin will be at the Circle for several 30 minute performance. 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m

May 20th.... American Family Insurance 500 Festival Community Day; 9am-6pm, Indianapolis Motor Speedway

TICKETS: $7/person; Kids 6 and under free; available at Gate #2 or Gate #10

LAP THE TRACK: Enter gate #10 off 30th Street to drive your car around the track.

• Lap the raceway in your own car!
• Tour the IRL car transport trailers.
• Visit Pit Lane and check out the vintage cars on display.
• Get autographs from Pro Series drivers and past champions.
• Take a Victory Circle photo-just like you're the winner in a car with a trophy, a wreath and a glass of milk!

May 22nd, 2009 Miller Lite Carb Day and Concert, gates will open at 8am to 6 pm, tickets are 10$

This day you can see the fun pit stop challenge competition and the Firestone Freedom 100 race. 3 Doors Down is the featured artist for that day.

May 23rd ....IPL 500 Festival Parade, start time is noon, Downtown Indianapolis.

IPL 500 Festival Parade and the kick-off for the race weekend will be downtown Indianapolis and they expect over 300,000 spectators.

This year's event will feature SpongeBob SquarePants, Pablo & Tyrone from "The Backyardigans" and Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog from "The Wiggles."The 33 starting drivers of the Indianapolis 500 andthis years Grand Marshall is basketball hall of famer Dick Vitale.

May 24th, 2009 last but not the least Indy 500 Mile Race, gates open at 6am to 6 pm, be ready for traffic, get there early, tickets still available and start at 20$.
