According to an article on Friday in the Indiana Inside Edge, a Honda Supplier could contribute 900 jobs to Indiana. The mayor in New Castle, Tom Nipp says that TS Tech North America, Inc. is planning to build a $25 million automotive parts manufacturing facility in the city. This could contribute 900 more jobs over a two year period. Tech North America, Inc. would be the supplier of seats for Honda who is planning to build an automotive facility in nearby Greensburg.
The Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana is still waiting for final approval from Honda about its proposal to build a plant in Greensburg. They hope to have a final announcement about this by March 9, 2007.
A medical research company located in the Purdue Research Park is seeking tax abatement on new equipment it says will help create 130 jobs over the next two years. The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports that Med Institute Inc. is seeking abatements on nearly $7 million in research and development equipment and more than $8 million in information technology equipment.
Also, Delta Dental of Indiana say that it is planning to open a new customer service center in Greenwood. This will initial offer 9 new jobs.
All of this is great news considering the announcement on February 27, 2007 that AT & T will be adding 425 more jobs to the area with its relocation of customer service positions that have been outsourced in the past.
