Grace, I have always wondered that...why people rent when they can own. I know so many people that started off renting and never came up with the money for a down payment...they would have owned their homes by now but are still renting.
LOL Carole - I can't even imagine the rents in NYC - when people get tired of paying big city rent - they usually look for a home in NW IN (a commute to Chicago by train) because they need less of a downpayment saved because the COST of not only homes but property taxes is much less right over the stateline:)

Just a quick note. You don't have to wait until 2009 to get the $8,000. You can file an amended 2008 return and get it immediately!!!!!
