Notre Dame Fighting Irish Come back from SLOW Start to Defeat Rutgers !

It was our first time to Notre Dame to see the Fighting Irish play a men's Basketball game, against The State University of New Jersey Rutgers - Scarlet Knights.....and what a wonderful experience it was!

Albeit, we were running late due to the fact we were still filming with ABC News Night-line for an upcoming show.

So, we walked in about 9 minutes into the first half, and I looked up and saw the score ->

Rutgers 21 - Notre Dame 10, then thought - WHAT ! are you kidding me ???

Notre Dame got the lead down to 5 by the half. Whatever was said in the locker room by the Irish Head Coach Mike Brey must have worked, as the Irish then built and opened up what looked like an mountain that Rutgers could not over come. The Irish came out running up and down in an NBA West Coast Style offense, building a lead to as much as 17!!!!

BUT WAIT -----> The Coaching strategy then changed after this big lead...changing the game's complexion!

The Irish - at the direction of Head Coach, go into a 100% slow down motion offense! Total slowdown - how's this - lets run the shot clock down to about 5 seconds before we do anything? Well, this strategy totally back fired (why in the world you change what is working, I will never know). The 17 pt. lead got trimmed to only 2 points, (I was thinking, if they loose this game, not only is the Big Dance out of the question but so would be the NIT).

Well, they held on & prevailed with a win that should have never had to go down to the last 30 seconds.

It was a wonderful experience to be in the Joyce Center, a very loud facility. We also enjoyed the WOW of the large cheer-leading squads routines during the game and at half-time!

I would definitely enjoy taking another 40 minute trip to this South Bend, Indiana - College campus and watch the Irish again!
