If you are in the Morris County, Kansas area, I would highly recommend a visit to the Hays House Restaurant and Tavern in Council Grove. The Hays House Restaurant and Tavern is the oldest continuously operated restaurant West of the Mississippi. Just walking in you will immediately realize the rich history with the abundance of artifacts and relics of the old west. The friendly service is unsurpassed, although that is the nature of the Council Grove Community and perhaps small town Kansas in total. I would recommend the fried chicken dinner and catfish fillet. The bacon wrapped fillet mignon is also one of the most savory I have ever had.
