First it was lenders then it was insurance companies, now it looks like Healthcare is next. If you don't think your credit score matters you might want to think again. A new company Healthcare Ananlytics is creating what is called MedFICO, the new score is inteneded to judge your willingness to repay your medical bills.
So how does this afect you? If it is anything like you regular FICO score you can expect to pay higher premiums if you have been late paying previous medical claims.
The question I have is how accurate will this be and how will this information be obtained?
According to Stephen Farber, chairman for Health Analytics hospitals and doctor's may report care debt to credit reporting agencies but cannot indicate what they are for. Hospital generally do not report delinquent account but do turn them over to collections.
So what is the answer to all of this? Guard you credit, get your free credit report and dispute any errors on your report.
Most State laws allow you to get 1 free copy of your credit report each year so click the link below and check yours.
