Let me tell you that it was HOT here last weekend!
This is my third year for traveling on down to the St. James Court Art Show. I took my Mom with me and with map in hand we figured out what end of the festival we wanted to start in.
After circling around a bit I located a place to park for $10 in an alley close to 4th Street. After driving around awhile I was willing to pay the guy $20! The place was packed and if you want a good parking place you will need to pay a few bucks for it!
Suddenly, the ice cold air conditioning in my car was something I yearned for all day! It was HOTas blue blazes about there. We walked for miles between wonderful art, delicious smelling food, musicians, crafts and jewelry treasures. Did I tell you it was HOT? Just like we were in New Orleans on a steamy day! If I stood too long in one spot I was sure my sandals were gonna be glued to to the pavement.
I looked over at my Mom (She's 76) and she was having a meltdown too! Why in the world is it in the 90's in Kentucky, in October? Does this have something to do with global warming? I kept asking her if she was OK because I knew I was dying! LOL

This was on St. James Ct. where the fountain was. Can you imagine painting a huge house pink?

I loved these dapple grey horses that the police rode. Everyone wanted to pet them.

The real estate was art candy for the eyes!

Well....we had a great time and enjoyed lots of food and plenty water. It sure felt great to get back into the car!

Hi Lizette - WOW, that was hot and it seems like we've all been having some really weird weather of late! It had been in the 80's here for several days until yesterday, and now we're back down into the 60's where we should be.
Beautiful pictures, and I love "The real estate was the art candy for the eyes"! Cool saying, and in some places, the real estate really is just that!
Ann
Lizette--It was one HOT weekend in the Twin Cities as well...The marathon which is usually cool and brisk was a sweltering event as well.
Looks like it was a great event...The drink and icecream vendors probably made as much money as the parking vendors!
Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing!!
Lizette - I usually hit the St. James Art Fair every year, but didn't go this weekend because it was so stinkin' hot! Was the crowd thinner than usual this year?
Lizette, Thank goodness the heat doesn't bother me, I would not have had a problem there :) When it dips below 60% though, I'm freezing. It looks like a fabulous fair, I know I would have loved it! I love to see what people can create out of imagination and pure talent. Your pictures are just beautiful, by the way.
Lizette, those are great pictures. Kentucky is beautiful. Must have been a fun festival. thanks
Ann - We were like that all day...just looking up at the architecture. It was my favorite thing. Every house had intricate details that were worthy of of a picture.
Teri - I guess it is hot everywhere. I was watching the Weather Channel the other night and there is already snow falling out west! Imagine that!!!
Kelly - I thought there were even more people! It could have used some thinning!
Hi Carole ! Thanks for dropping in! I'd love to see it 60 here right now. I'm inside the office with my blinds drawn to keep out the heat. Now up to 88.
Robert - Festivals here are really fun. Next one is October Court Days in Mt. Sterling. I wouldn't miss that one for the world!
I will take the hot... it has been on the verge of snowing - heading to Texas to get warm towards the end of the month :o)
I was waiting for the punch line ...that your car AC was broken...LOL
It may have been hot but it sure was pretty!
Thesa- I would love to be wearing my fall clothes right now. I'm really getting tired of all the extra hot weather.
Joan - With my refrigerator breaking down weekend before last I don't need any more A/C karma.
I love St James... it is such a CRAZY time...
believe it or not it is one of the biggest real art shows in the country and so few know about it!
my brother lived on St James court for a while... his friends would come visit and stay over the weekend so they didn't have to fight for parking
My wife and I were remarking about a piece of pottery we bought there 6yrs ago... we still own it and it is holding up nicely.... it is a bowl witha lid... small bowl... my chef wife uses it as a salt well
Hi David, I didn't know it was one of the biggest REAL art shows in the country. I didn't start going till a few years ago. Now I won't miss it. The historic houses surrounding the art are the real show!
